about dmg aligner rod?

I had a lansky system for a while and now i just got a dmt aligner

on the lansky i had to make sure the guided rod while attached to the stone was flat.

do i have to make sure the one on the aligner is flat?

I'm not sure what you mean by flat.

The DMT Aligner rod doesn't come off like the Lansky.

I just put the rod in the locked open position and use it.
