My sons brother in law mentioned he works with G10 where he works -- so how about some scrap pieces to make a handle. Anyway he walked in with some 1" thick pieces. I asked how to cut it and he said they only use carbide. My question is can I use the band saw I cut aluminum with? I use ordinary steel cutting blades and as you know those blades are not give away.
Now I have to think about what kind of knife to make -- the G10 is such a light green it is almost white. :barf:

That's "natural" G-10 that you have. When you get it to 1/8" thick scales it has a greenish, translucent glow that is really cool. Look at Kevin Wilkin's and Jens Anso's webpages and you'll get pretty excited about how this type of G-10 looks. FWIW, I've always used a hacksaw with bimetal blades on G-10 and they cut like butter. It's probably pretty abrasive, but I used the same 10" bandsaw blade for about a year to cut 1084, 1095, G-10, Micarta and all kinds of wood and it didn't run into problems until I took it to some titanium and broke the teeth off the saw, so you should be able to get away with cutting it with your setup.

A friend just gave me some of the greenish G-10 Im glad to hear it looks good. I have always hust used my metal cutting bandsaw blades and never had a problem. I liike G-10 but the smell when grinding makes me see visions and dream dreams. Open all the doors and windows, turn on all the fans, wear a condom.
