Ivan,

I hope you are reading this. I just got a Vespa from a fellow forumite, and I am in love with it. Since it came in the mail on thursday, I have had it on me. O.k., here is my ?. It came in a nice felt lined kydex sheath, but there is nothing but friction holding it in. No type of locking device or anything. I have been carrying it as a neck knife, and have not had any reason to believe it will fall out, but was that the intention of this knife? The guy who sent it to me said neck carry would be fine. It also came with a J hook for IWB carry, but I haven't found a secure way to do that yet. Any info on how to carry this knife would be appreciated. I prefer neck carry, and the amount of force needed to release the knife from the sheath would lead me to believe this is an acceptable way to carry it. Ivan, any thing to add? Also, the handle is very nice. Is it sturdy though? This is the first knife I have owned with the Japanese style wrap. I want to make this my EDC, but I need some info to calm my worries first. Other than that, this is a very, very, very nice knife!:)

Hello, Lanny

Thanks for your e-mail. It is great to know that you are so glad with it.
Regarding its sheath, my later Gen2 sheaths are molded so that their lips are aways opposing each other and pressing the blade, so they are very safe to use upside down and still allow a draw as fast as can be. I tried these sheaths by swinging them from my finger and they would only start to release the knife when swung real fast, unlike any move we make even in the most strange situations. In the same conditions, most other kydex sheaths I tried for comparison failed, too, even some with a retention cam and one with a magnet, so I think mine is perfectly under the safety paramemters.
Regarding the J blet clip, just tuck the knife in your waist as it fits comfortably to you and pass the J clip under your belt. When you pull the knife, the sheath will follow until the cord makes it stop, providing a very safe draw away from your body, not to mention how fast it is.
About the cord wrapped handle, I have disassembled a few for testing purposes and have to say that, afetr theya re resin soaked, this is a pain to do without a grinder, so don't worry, they will not unwrap or fall apart unless very seriously abused.
Hopefully all your concerns are gone by now and you can use your new knife with absolute confidence. If, anyway, you ahve any more question, do not hesitate to ask me.

Thank you very much Ivan! I am now even more pleased with this knife, and am sure it will provide me with years of great service. If I get deployed to that stinkin' Afghan sand pit, your knife will definately come with me. I am also definately going to be a return customer. THANX AGAIN:D

Hello, Lanny
Is for that kind of situations that my blades are designed and produced - keep it with you and it will make you sleep better.
My strongest wishes of success and safe return if your boots ever hit the sand.
