About my Vic SwissTool RS (quality control issue?)...

I recently purchased a Victorinox SwissTool RS. Since that time it's proven invaluable with repairs needed around the house and on the vehicle. I'm very happy with my acquisition, but I have one question..

When the tool is open for using the pliers, I've noticed it feels very loose. I'm not sure how else to explain it. I hold one arm, and I'm able to make the other arm flap the pliers open and closed with almost no effort. Is this common? The fit, finish, and snap of all the other implements are top-notch, so I'm a bit confused here.

My only pliers-based multitool experience beyond this is with the 3 Leatherman products I own, none of whom have this issue. Once they're set for using the pliers, the arms don't move at all until I actively make them do so. Don't get me wrong, I love my new RS and don't regret my purchase, I just want to know if this is an anomaly.

I've had both an rs and a cs and the pliers on both opened and closed easily like you're describing. That's pretty much how a decent normal pliers works as well, so I consider it an advantage. As long as you aren't getting play from side to side in the joint it should be fine.

Totally valid question and actually something I was wondering about as well.
I held a few swisstools in a store and they all behaved the way you describe. Still precise, just very easy to open and close.

Just like you I was confused because I had experience only with a few Leatherman products I own. Guess it's just the way they are.
