hello all, a friend gave me an old camillus display case and i was wondering if i could find out age, worth, etc... it says "Camillus has the edge" at the top. it is about 18 inches tall, about 1 ft wide, and about 8 or 9 inches deep at base, tapering as it rises. probably about 4 inches deep at top. it has a red rack on the front behind the glass with 2 small "shelves" to support the handles of folders and 2 metal racks with slits to support the blades. there are 3 removeable shelves inside each marked accordingly for proper placement. the back of the door has a diagram instructing placement of the knives, sharpening, etc... the glass in the case is rounded on each side, and there is a label inside the door instructing "Mr. hardware dealer" to contact camillus for replacement glass. any info would be appreciated.thanks.

Russ,
I don't know the answer, and nobody knew offhand today at the office. I'll look into it, but its old, at least from the early '50s. I'll try to find out something exact.

Russ,

Tom Williams, our company historian, is working on this question for you. If you could give us some more specifics, ie., exact deminsions, and whether the glass in the front is curved or flat, we should be able to give you some very specific answers regarding the year this display came out,and what knives typically where displayed.

This should be interesting....

This is a display introduced in 1946 for the retail/hardware store trade. I see that it wa used atleast through 1948. Probally longer. So, before we go any further, let me know if this is what you have, OK?

BTW, this info was made availible by Tom Williams, CAMILLUS' Company Historian. Tom is quite an asset to us here on BladeForums, and it sounds like he is going to be partipating here on the CAMILLUS forum even more, so don't be bashful with your questions guys!
