Hi, you all and Benchmade.

I am a Chinese live in mainland , recently i got a small Sanrenmu folder , named 10750 .

there is Benchmade logo on the blade , and some one told me that the knife was OEM by Sanrenmu for Benchmade, is it a fake?

thanks

Chinese counterfeiters are still making the knife formerly known as Vex. So my guess would be that it is a knock off and. I can see it is up for sale on a site that deals widely in counterfeit items. When the knife was in production, Sanrenmu may indeed have produced the Red Class knives for Benchmade, but since it is no longer produced, it's hard to say what it really is.

Not the best answer on my part I know, but I remember the Vex, I really loved the design and wanted to see it in 154CM. Sadly it vanished.

+1. Built like a tank, rounded spine, great design even if marked China on the blade. Opened with the authority of a much more expensive knife.

+2 on the Vex. Great design and built solid! Great ergo's and grip with the finger molded pocket clip. The BP Titanium coating on the blade and liners was a nice touch, especially for the price. I would love to see them bring it back in an upgraded steel. I was lucky enough to pick one up from KW when they were having a closeout on the Tanto version w/ thumb stud. Still hoping to get the opening hole version one day but as Rev said too many knock offs floating around, especially on ebay.

I do say, if you ever get a chance to get the real deal don't hesitate to snatch it up!.

Big 5 sports has been selling an HK assisted opener called the Flak 14141. It looks like remnants of the Vex are showing up here.
It is made in China by BM for Big 5, guess this would be a Sanremu product?

Although it should be noted, depending on whose story you believe, the Vex design was stolen from Spyderco. There's a post on here somewhere that goes into detail, from what I remember essentially Led DeAsis and Sal Glasser were once friends and Sal showed him a design that more or less was the Vex, their friendship soured and BM produced the Vex. In retaliation Spyderco made the Tenacious, which obviously became hugely popular.

If Benchmade says they were never OEM manufacturers, then that is what I would go by.

If you follow this thread, http://benchmadeforum.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/587002502001/m/158008818001 the official answer from Benchmade in 2012 is "There is not a current relationship with them and they are producing many counterfeit knives."

To me that seems pretty clear there was a relationship in the past. If that's the case, it explains the ease with which the Vex was counterfeited.
