Can anyone recommend a source for quality sharpening stones. Ideally I would like to get several nice large stones for my workbench (medium, fine, and very fine/ceramic). There are plenty of small stones on the market, but its hard to find a good one for the larger (machete sized) blades

Spyderco has large benchstones, which are really good.
Here in Belgium is a source of the finest stone in the world, coticule, and I have a few large chunks, and they are my favourite, but I think you'll be better off spending your money on Arkansas stone (a little rougher and softer) because sending such a belgian stone over there would cost you about
200$, stone inclusive.
Why dont you make your own? A belt grinder can grind stone too you know. And if Ed fowler can sharpen his knife with a river stone, why can't you turn it into a bench stone? An angle grinder with a diamond disk is very handy.

Dick has a wide variety of sharpening stones (natural stones, synthetic stones, japanese water stones..)

but unfortunately they 're in Germany, so shipping cost could be a problem
