These Becker knives are starting to get into my head, the "want" factor now has me trawling for importers and deals online. There appears to be only two out lets in NZ and both are charging double and some for what you US fellas pick them up for

Not being able to make up my mind I've decided on the BK-7 and BK-9 with custom handles for each, I cannot wait to pull the trigger pending the right deal.

Back on track, how does the black coating stand up to use? many of the photos on this forum look immaculate so either you guys aint using them or the finish is tough. My only experience thus far is the coating on the Fallkniven A1 which farting alone can remove.

Any pics of used - well used Beckers most appreciated, show me the wabi.

Cheers.

Might want to throw in a bk14 or bk11 or heack even a 13 while your at it. It's nice to have that smaller blade sometimes!

Mate, there are some decent priced Beckers in Au. knifewarehouse.com.au and knives2survive.com.au - the large ones at around 100 (BK9 $105-115) and the postage should be more reasonable.
I was holding out on the 9 for quite a while, in the pictures the handle looked bulky, but when I finally go it - fits perfectly in my medium sized hand. It's well balanced and IMO quite versatile as it's not that heavy for it's size. But if you pair it with 11/12 you can have a good combo in a fairly compact package, might even throw in a 13.

Have you checked out The Knife Connection? Probably the best deal you'll get on shipping from a company based in the US.

The coating dosnt hold up great. However the new coating is supposed to be much better. Here is a BK9 that has been used hard. I like how it looks and I have had no problems with corrosion.

The coating on my BK14 was removed pretty fast so I could use it with a firesteel. The BK2 coating has held up pretty decently though, but is getting thin in a few spots. This is not the most recent pic of it though, so it looks a little worse now.

seems like most of there guys like their stripping and rust them on purpose with bleach and mustard and other abuse :)

Coating....blah! Who needs it? You should be able to do SIMPLE knife maintanence and oil the blade. Now I may wait a while with the new stuff before deciding to strip it...

Here's mine chillin with his peanut pal. It's between new and Psyop's. It hasn't had that much use yet, I've only had it a month or two. It wore quick where it wore, and seems pretty stable now. We'll see how it is in another month or two... but a machax may be getting most of the work when I get one.... we'll see...

Jay, your not the only ones. Australians (ie. me!) also have to pay double or more for knives. I've been buying my Beckers off Ebay and havent had any trouble getting them past customs...but then again, you guys probably have different laws and regulations.
