i have the mora 2000 <and love it> and im looking to get the #2 classic laminated carbon steel, and the allround stainless (basicly the same as a stainless steel clipper)..also getting a mora curved blade for carving.

comes to a total of 45 bucks.

i have never held any of these in hand, so im wondering about the fit and finish and quality of thes compared to the 2000...i know they are only like $15 each so i dont expect super quality.

anyone with experience, or any alternative choices would be great. its going to be used for woodcraft and wood carving.

thanks.
allen.

1. Dont expect anything fancy.

2. Expect a sturdy , working tool.

Do the above and you will be more than pleased.

great advice man, i learned all that with the mora 2000

i know they aren't made for looks. i just wondered about those models keeping with the mora traditions.

hard to find em in north florida, looks like i'm gonna have to order them off the interwebs. :(

They are great knives for the money.

Dont let the price fool you, they are extremly tough and rugged knives.

Just got an email from that big knife store in Tennessee . They have a free shipping special going on.

I used to carry a Mora Classic #2 during camping trips, this year I switched to the Mora 2000. They are good allround camping knives and for the price they are excellent tools.

Easy to sharpen, they get very sharp, cut great, hold up well, don't weigh so much you feel them on your belt and they are cheap. I like this 8" SS model for serious work cutting small green brush and the 4 and a quarter inch carbon steel tri-flex model below is with me on hikes a lot.

We can get some nice blanks here in Canada from Lee Valley tools. I bought one of each of these, and a couple extra of the 4 1/4 laminate version. The 5" stainless one is quite nice and a bit thicker then the others. The 6" bowie style is a little rougher with an unground back, but it doesn't take long to fix that up.
