About the Green Beret Knife....

I seem to remember a post once telling why you should NEVER let anyone else touch your knife, where some guy had shown his brand new CRK Aviator to a coworker, then left it with him while he went to do something, when he returned he found the guy had bashed and dented the heck out of the butt end of it while trying to squash an ant on the cement floor with it. If that happened to me, I would have wanted to test how well it would stand up to bashing the guys skull.

Sorry this doesn't answer your question, but it reminded me of this story.
 
The butt end does have an extension of the knife tang that would be better used for "striking" than pounding.
