About the KA-BAR story

Thanks, Josh.

I was tempted to carry it a lot further, but decided to keep it fairly short to make it readable for more people. I really could be an interesting subject, though.

  ;)

it was a good read Bob.

Thanks, gundude. You're partially responsible, of course.

At the beginning of the story I mention that it grew out of another member asking me a question. Well, gundude was the dude who asked the question. Then we started talking about KA-BAR's, and, well, one thing led to another and I wrote the little story. It really could have been expanded, but it was better to keep it short for Blade Forums: you can learn more when the movie comes out . . . just kidding.

From a fellow vet. Bravo Zulu!
Maybe it could use an engineer's touch. I'll bet there were more than a few SeaBees carrying KA-BARS as well. Shall I break into song?
"We can build and we can fight!"

Appreciate — say again, appreciate — Bravo Zulu, Greg.

I know darn well that there were SeaBees carrying KA-BARs in WW II. First the Marines got them, then the SeaBees and UDT — at least that's the story that I read somewhere.

As far as an engineer's touch, did you mean for the story or for the knife? I don't think the knife needs it, after all these years. As for the story, well, engineers tend to be too pedantic: ya gots ta switch ta goofy writer mode fer writin' stuff.:D

ahhhhhhhh
and your mom wears combat boots! (that might be a compliment!)
i am NOT pedantic and i can prove it with a formula!

I grew up in a Marine family, and Mom did have her own combat boots, so there.:D

See, that's what I'm talking about — always with the formulas. Didn't your mom ever tell you that too much calculating would make you go blind?

I've told you before that help is available, that there are twelve-step programs available for that. Once you admit you are powerless over math, you can begin to get healthy again, and never even think of anything more complex than Pi r² (couldn't figure out how to get the Pi symbol into Blade Forums). It's worked for many others, and it can work for you, too. Look at me: once i joined Mathaholics Anonymous, I became a blithering idiot in almost no time at all, and you can too. You just need to take that first step, Greg. Help is available.

the movie is in its planning stages currently. ;) who do YOU think would be good in a movie about a ka bar?

As well you should, because I'm blaming it on you, anyway.

Of course it will be a blockbuster. How could a story about a knife possibly fail, especially with an all star cast.

I'm going to sit here by the phone waiting for Hollywood to call. It'll be anytime, now.

i see how its gonna be! :( :D

i think there should be some extra special effects as well, think michael bay, huge explosions and fireballs are what sell!

they should call any minute. after all it is almost 9PM on a sunday! what else do they have to do?

Well, John Wayne springs readily to mind, but I understand he's no longer available. Other than that, I have no idea; I haven't kept up with Hollywood since the Duke died (it was never the same after that). No John Wayne, no Steve McQueen, Eastwood is too old. I don't know, anymore.

As long as it has good looking women in skimpy costumes, I'm happy nowadays.

Okay, I'm down with the special effects, as long as it has good looking women in skimpy costumes.

I'll be waiting by the phone . . . tomorrow.

Tonight, though, I need to go to bed: five o'clock is going to come early.

well you are practically a producer, or creator?, so you get a say in the final outcome :D
