Over the next few weeks/months we are probably going to increase the amount of gear we are giving away via contests here on Bladeforums. It is VERY important that you pay close attention to the contest rules. In fact, the moderators judge contests as much on the rules of the contest as the content you may bring. So, if the moderators say they want 2 photos entered, this does not mean enter 3 or 4 photos. If the mods say "no discussion" it means just that. There will be no warnings for disqualifications. If you don't play by the rules you are simply disqualified. These contests are NOT a popularity contest. We really don't care who wins as long as the rules are followed and the best man wins according to what's being judged at the time. The mods, Mike Perrin and myself are not entered into any contests.

Thanks,

Jeff

Much thanks but the main reason for the post is not to be great or anything, but some of the entries are causing the mods headaches because they don't follow the rules and we're sick of people not reading the rules! If anything, my post was intended to be more rude than be good :D

Uhm ... forgive me saying so, but that kind of failed.
You giving even more to the folks around here is good.
Being stricter on the rules to help the moderators is good, too.

But the message came across, read the rules - if in doubt read the rules again ... if still in doubt ... (well I'd assume some language difficulty on my part ...) look what others do to take part and read the rules again ...

Sometime it could be hard for non english native people to understand clearly the rules.

And sometimes it could be hard to follow the rules because it is hard to find the rules. If I look the post for the september giveaway I know that I should post a "rat pack". I know what a "rat pack" is but if I didn't know, I proceed in reading the "Rules for RAT forum" thread. As I don't find here the information I was looking for, I shake my head, put a finger in my nose and search farther... and farther... until I see the "Taking the RAT pack to the next level". Gotcha!

Natural selection laws are rude!

Will these contests be open to RAT Pack members only?

I'm new here, and don't post a lot even though I do read a lot. (Never really saw the use in posting "+1" in every thread that comes along.) So it'll take me a while to have 25 posts in this one forum.

Even if I'm not eligible, I'm very impressed with the way RAT operates as a customer oriented company. I've ordered my first rat, and will probably be ordering more in the future.

The reasons for the rat pack or multiple.....Only one of which is for the aid in regulating the contests. By limiting the contests to rat pack members it helps to insure that the people winning the contest contribute to the forum. It also helps who ever (mostly the mods) is judging the contests keep tract of participants. Yes there are many people who get their 25 posts and then only post again in the contests.....that is on their conscience. Some members here like myself don't even enter a contest if it for a product I already have so that other members have a shot at obtaining one of RAT's wonderful products. We incourage people to become part of the rat family not just come around for the contests.

I'm sorry but we're sort of an English First forum around here. We do appreciate all our international visitors but rules will remain rules.

Press 2 for Spanish :D

My Spanish sucks - can't even write that in Spanish ...

@bidon as a fellow ESL forum member I found it to be helpful to follow these instructions:
read the rules - if in doubt read the rules again ... if still in doubt ... (well I'd assume some language difficulty on my part ...) look what others do to take part and read the rules again ...

Good stuff - even if bureaucracy is the natural enemy of capitalism, rules are rules:p:p

I have noticed people popping up in the contest threads, that've never posted here, asking "What's a rat pack #?" "How do I get one?" ...

Read the other threads before asking 20 questions! But what's the point, those people probably won't even read this thread or the other rule threads.
