Hi all... have two questions, actually.

First would be: how often do midtechs go through the custom shop for handles? I haven't seen a whole lot of these and am curious how regular it is (if it's regular at all).

Second would be if there's any news on whether any other models are going to midtech production.

Thanks!

How often is a random sort of thing. It happens occasionally, but not on any sort of schedule. I know they would like to do other models, but I don't think any others are currently in the works.

I own a production Duke and it's awesome. I gifted the production Bushfinger to a friend and he is also a fan. I would buy any of these production models with custom handles in a heartbeat.

I'd never thought of doing that!! I'd love love love a production Gaucho with the addition of custom scales!!

I love the beautiful custom handle work but for a solid user I would never trade the factory scales on my hard use pro models for a slick, pretty custom handle. Might as well just buy a custom then.

I would ordinarily agree but I'm a stainless kind of guy, and I really love S35VN. Seeing Fiddlebacks in CPM154 has been like hen's teeth lately. You could dress up a midtech with fancier micarta without losing much if any functionality, too. Would love to see some Shadetree-handled production knives.

Thanks, that's about what I thought. I do love the variety in the productions... Andy already did more models as midtechs than I thought we'd ever see.

That's what shadetree and micartia is for😁
Honestly I am a pure custom fan of fiddleback forge once you Hadley one of Andys handmade knives you will never turn back.

Me too I love stainless that's why I rescaled my own kephart bc I got impatient waiting for one to pop up... a good learning experience

I would love to see a mid-tech Gaucho in 1/8 CPM S110V :)

Has anyone noticed a performance difference between the blades on the productions and handmades? Looking at the kephart model specifically.

The only performance difference I've seen is just from the differences in the metals... both heat treats are top notch... I do think that Andy grinds them a little thinner with the hand made knives but both are superb

The customs have a convex grind, and the production knives have a flat grind. Depending on your needs, that might make a difference to you.

It is pretty random, but maybe its time to do a tray of them. I know we have Custom Shop Camp Knives in stock right now.
