About to buy my first khukuri

Ok, so I have finally settled on HI to get my first khukuri (or two).
I was just wondering if anybody has ever tried throwing any different styles of khukuri. Before everybody starts screaming about how khukuris are not built for throwing...I realize this. I am just curious because I love to throw knives and I most likely will throw it at some point. Soooooo. Any ideas??
What style would be most suited to throwing? I have heard the "balance" khuk is very good.

I admit to having had a strong urge to throw mine a few times.

I'd recommend whichever type you try it with, get one with a chiruwa (exposed tang) style handle. You' less chance of breaking the wood or horn scales on those than ona standard handle.

Yup, maybe a small CAK. For serious throwing, I'd probably knock off the stock scales and wrap the handle in paracord or leather.

Addressing the question of throwing, in the archives someone suggested using an old mattress or two for initial practicing to keep from scarring the khukuri. You might consider a Villager model initially to see how it goes. Yangdu has had a lot of 13" Villager CAKs up recently. Have fun and be careful.

(Andrew, that sure looks like a corgi in your avatar. I've got two Pems myself.)

Good suggestions:)

However, remember the guy that threw a khuk and it took a bad bounce? I think they call him Lefty, or Stumpy, or...Lance Armstrong-y now;)

Be careful.

I've never thrown my khukri, though I have been tempted to try... don't think I could bring myself to do it :(

On another note, there was a discussion on HI throwing knives awhile back. Here's the thread ;)
