I found a Randall 4-6 for sale locally, it would be my first and I am a little nervous. It has a stag handle, double brass hilt and a nickel butt cap that is peened over. Like new condition. They want $500 for it. Any advice on collectability and or value would be appreciated. I think I just need some re assurance that this is a good buy.

Photos of said knife may help others to chime in. Age, condition, and options all come into play. However, the final decision will be yours alone.

That's a non-catalog model, a #4-6 Fighter that is priced at $390 +shipping for a base variant through the Randall Shop or some of the authorized dealers. Yours however has some expensive options. Stainless steel blade, $65. Metal spacers, $20, Stag handle, $65, and Aluminum end cap, $30. At $70 off catalog price, with no wait, on a pretty nice RMK, yes, I would say $500 is a fair deal, but would offer less.

Thanks Melvin. What does it mean when you say "non Catalog"?

Sounds like it is a fair deal. So if I understand it is fairly common as Randalls go

Thanks,
Joe

Ono,
Did you get it? How has it performed? What are your impressions? I am about to get my first Randall and curious about your first impressions with the knife in hand. Thanks.
