... the Rambo part 2 survival knife. Some say it's great, others say it's crap, but I've always fancied the damn thing.

Now I'd like to know if anyone here has one and some opinions on it (I'm still going to buy it though :-))

If someone owns one, i'm very interested in the serrations pattern and how thick the blade is (i.e. of what stock it is made - is that the correct expression!?).

Thanks for the input in advance.

Well... I won't say it doesn't have its uses. If you just want it as a piece of memorabilia I'm sure it will look nice. I don't have one of these, but based on my experiences with United Cutlery I wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot pole, to put it bluntly. If you try to use it I think you'll be very disappointed, the steel used 420J2, which doesn't qualify as steel in my book. The one knife I ever owned that was made of that material fell apart after 5 minutes of use. It has practically zero carbon content, so it can't be properly hardened and won't take or hold an edge. Sorry to be so negative, but that's my honest opinion of United's products based on my experience with them. They're fine as display pieces though, in fact if I had more money I would get some of their Lord of the Rings sword reproductions as conversation pieces. Users they are not, however.

Ok, you caught me. I don't mean to use it for anything, just to have something impressive to show-off for knife-dummy friends. I'm still interested into the stock thickness and how the serration pattern looks from above. The publicity-shots side view has became very irritating. Can no webseller make a decent set of pics for the knives they are selling.
