Hello everybody,Just got back from the Moran Hammer-in.Weather was lovely, fellowship great, knives and info awsome.Saw a couple of you guys there.
I made the final mini in the "HOW SMALL CAN IT GET" department. It came out at 1.4mm.Sorry,I had to flat gring it.I'll try to post a photo tonight.Don't know if I can macro that small.

Glad you had a good time Stacy. I'm working the opposite end of the spectrum. Just got through doing the finishing heat on what will end up being around 24" OAL. I need to mark my calender for next year so I can plan ahead for the hammer-in.

Yep, I saw it. You need a Jeweler's loup to see the detail,
looks like an empty jewelry box at first

Some people have way too much time on their hands :D

I like micros too, but wish I could see that thing better! What materials did you use? And how did you hold that sucker while working on it? You got some kind of tiny handheld vise? (that's basically what I use) I generally keep my minis in the 1"-2 1/2" range, but maybe I aught to try a micro again now that I have access to a macroscope.

And Mark-
24" knife? YeeeHaw! That sounds right up my alley, too. Could you provide some details? Bowie? Persian? Dagger? ??? What's its indended use?
Curious possums wanna know!

I made a VERY small pin vise to hold it.The knife is made in platinum, and is an integral.I did the handle first at .4mm,chucked it in the pin vise, reduced the ricasso area to make the guard, then beveled the blade to get the shape. The blade came out a little out of line with the handle.I probably pushed it to one side wlile polishing.
