I haven't seen one of these in a while,
so post away.
When I first got into knives, didn't really know anything,
but now I know flat ground knives are great.
I'm still not sold on convex edges, but I can accept that
they might be handy.
so here you go:

fLAT LIKE MY HEAD :)
I tend to like the useability in the broad range of tasks that a flat grind handles.
Sometimes the hollow grind binds too easily...maybe most times.
Especially the cool looking deep hollow grinds

I'm not so much concerned about the grind, (although chisel doesn't appeal to me much), but I'm more interested in blade shape and size.

Flat grinds are all I ever end up carrying. I can't justify anything else when I have them laying around.

Flat grinds are the best! Convex is cool too. I also like "Scandinavian" grinds (flat, sans edge bevel).

Hollow grinds are great for straight razors, but knives? A hollow grind works well for most everyday knife tasks, but it binds in harder materials and the edge area can be weak.

I see very few votes for the option I selected. What's the matter with you people; don't you know anything? :grumpy:

I voted for flat and convex. Don't get your hopes up: I am not giving away my Sebenzas. There's a lot more goes into a knife than the blade grind.

I hollow grind my blades on my multiblade folders, however about the widest blade I grind is 1/2" and i grind with either a 10" or a 14" contact wheel so the hollow is very close to a flat grind. Hope that makes sense.

Flat for most fixed of folders;
Hollow with thin edge for small folders that won't see hard use.

I claim the right of first refusal if you ever do give away your Sebbies. I promise to give them a good and loving home. ;) ;)

I like flat grinds because the shoulders don't hang up so badly on dense material.

Flats with convex edges are nifty because of their cutting ability, but convex edges are hard to return to sharp if they are left gone too long.

I don't like high hollow grinds because of the shoulders and how little material there is directly behind the edge and tip, and besides, a high flat grind is pretty close to a high hollow in terms of cutting ability IMHO.

A low hollow on a thick blade doesn't cut too well, but a low flat can still be usable if not elegant.
