Wanted to show what happened to my BK11 while splitting some hickory sticks for my smoker. He took a big chip but didn't snap in half so I'm going to regrind it and keep on carrying it from edc.

Yeah I know it needs some cleaning and scotch brite :thumbup:
More to follow stay tuned :cool:

Why'd ya put that finger choil so far up the blade? :D

Hickory is tough, but it shouldn't do that. We'll see what happens when Ethan and Toooj see this thread.

It must have hit a knot inside the stick and bent that section of the blade enough to snap that chunk out. That's all that I can figure since I have batoned my eskabar thru ridiculous amounts of hedge without damage.

In a survival situation a chip like that wouldnt be too big of a deal as long as the rest of the blade were intact. So I don't really call that a failure. Just a speed bump Or maybe pothole! I have reground that blade into a very nice drop point. It looks like a bushcrafty type shape now.

Toooj should just hire me as a stress tester. I can destroy anything the only thing that saves me is that I can fix nearly anything. :-}

Yeah that's my bald head and iPhone in the reflection.

Hah, I think I like the new blade shape a bit better, to be honest! Looks nice and nimble. Cleaned up real good. Well done!
