So i went out for the weekend fully expecting to bring back dozens of pictures. Sadly my camera was stone cold dead when i went to take the first picture.

I batoned though a good dozen logs, used it to teach my daughter to build a small trap and build a camp fire. It performed beautifully at the large and small tasks and after 2 days of relatively hard use, it was still shaving sharp, and there's NO sign after cleaning it up that the finish is scuffed.

Sadly, there are no pics, so as per the rules of the internet, it never happened :grumpy:

How old is your daughter? I ask because I have a daughter who is three and when she's old enough I'd like to teach her some of those skills. Of course I'd have to learn 'em myself first!

My daughter is 10. When i was 10 my grandfather taught me how to do all manner of outdoorsy stuff. One of the first ones he taught me to make is designed to catch and kill small game.

That's what i made for my daughter this weekend

Hopefully your daughter did not fall prey to that old trick! A bit of a treat on a stick, and she is supposed to traipse on in there and get trapped.

My older son is crafty and wary like his wily old father........but he is 7. My 2 year old still occasionally falls prey to my tricks and traps, but he is getting wise.

He knows the enticing usually ends with a grab, and a bear hug, and most likely a scratchy kiss and tickle from the old man.
