well I have had the honor to be part of a pass around where John wanted us to beat on a blade of his. it's a very nice profile and a great little knife. specs below.
9 1/2" overall length
5" blade
1/8" O1 tool steel
I have had this bad boy for about a week or so. not sure on the thickness but no where near a 1/4 lol. it's been through 9 other testers or so and they have all beaten the hell out of this knife and it just keeps coming back for more. I figured I would give it a go too lol. handle ergo's fee very good. solid and comfortable in multiple grips. blade shape has been great for most all cutting tasks and would be solid skinning (though I didn't get to perform this task). I used this knife for anything and everything I could think of for over a week. did some just plain dumb stuff with it also to see if it would hold up.
I did everything from carve up onions, cut fat off pork loins, to carving beer can art
I split a shit ton of wood by batoning with it, did so many feather sticks it wasn't funny lol, and treating the blade like it was a wedge. once it was beat into the wood like a wedge I would bend it back and forth till I broke the piece off. I was sure I had bent it based off the abuse but it came back true every time. I took it and stabbed a very hard piece of metal like 15 times. it punched through over and over with no tip damage. I used it to cut up my seed potatoes and then help dig holes in the dirt to plant them. it prepped food and carved sticks. built traps. I used it to smash through mortar on a set of bricks that needed it off to redo it. man this knife just kept coming back for more, so I threw it in to a tree about 50 plus times lol. it stuck about 30 or more. great balance. JK has his heat treat down on some good old 01. edge retention was great. even after cutting up over 30 aluminum cans it was still sharp. a quick run on some steel and it was back to shaving sharp. I guess this is enough talking and I should get on to the pictures already.
I will leave you with this though, if your in need a good working blade or bushcraft blade don't hesitate to get with John and order something. he does some great work and his blades definitely stand the test of time and abuse.
