OK, I've got a couple user khuks & now I'm starting to wonder should I pick up something historical while they're still to be had. Who has experience with those available from Atlanta Cutlery & IMA? What's your opinion of value & condition? Better deals to be had elsewhere?
Thanks

The experts should be along shortly. They'll probably need some pics to give you more information:)

I'm just gonna shimmy this over to the Cantina, too. No harm, no foul:) I'm interested in what Spiral et al have to say.

OK Atlanta & IMA do have some amazing historical pieces at what I woould say are good prices.

Sometimes they send out a chipped or broken piece & you have to ring them & say , Thats not right I want a good one & then they put it right. {well I know Atlanta do anyway.}

Id say lately 18 or 19 out of 20 of there custermers who speak to me about kukri are deligheted with what there sent. {once theve cleaned of the dirty old cosmoline!}

I like thier Bhojpure for shape but the longleafs with thier inscriptions are serios historical pieces & range from fairly heavy fighters to kukris you could cut through brick walls with, Id say evry kukri freak should have an example.

For Long term investment the bolsterd dated & scaberded Brit. Gurkha issue ww2 mk2 kukris are best buy, {IMHO} {last time I looked $89}

The $50 mk.3s are the best mark 3s youll ever find for temper, steel etc. once the Brit . Army didnt have them made , {probaly c.1946.}the quality dropped. There bargain users if you like full tangs. cut like the devil.

The best bit is If they send somethng bad, just tell them , send it back & they will send you another one.

Ive had 6 from them directly, 5 are still in my collection & the 6th is in a friends leading collection that I did a swap with as I had a duplicate.

If you get one or two, pictures are always good!

All Right!! Many thanks, Spiral, that's just the info I can use. Now I just have to decide which one.
BTW: Cosmolene is an old aquantance, I've been playing with old battle rifles for a long time. My last cleanup was a M39 Finn that I think was dipped in tar instead of cosmo.
Thanks again

(edits mine) Steely, forgive me, I know this is off topic, but I gotta comment: Uplander, I have a Fin 39 as well, and when she got hot at the range, all this black crud would seep (read: pour) out. Had to detail strip it, soak it (stock too), rebuild it, and there was my first experience with cosmolene, or whatever the Fins used. Now she's my favorite. Looking for another, haven't found a decent one for the right price yet.

That being said, I've been wavering on whether to buy one of the old historical AC kukris, and maybe one or two of the old martial arms as well. I think I'll go for the kukri first, just to see . . .

thx - cpr

Does anyone have a link for the Atlanta mark 3?

No thats not allowed I belive.

Find there website, {via google or whatever.] type in kukri & keep clicking , through the pages.youll find them in the end. {ignore there new kukris, there not the best..]
