I got one for my Buck 560. I had thought about it for sometime, and thought it probably would turn out to be a dissapointment for one reason or another.

But so far it has been a pleasant supprise.
It works just fine. Sometimes things like this seem to be a good idea, but when you put it into everyday practice, it turns into a dissapointment.

I wish I would have got it months ago.

Yes, I know lots of knifes come with thumbstuds, and I am never without one of my spyderco's and its famous hole, but they all have clips. Clips are great things for carry, but kind of nag at me when using for something more than a quick cut or two.

Thats why I have fallen in love with my 560. Light weight Ti handles, profile slender enough to ride either beside my billfold, or sometimes my watch pocket(under my belt), and no nagging clip. Very comfortable, gripable handle, and now---a thumbstud!

Knzn, where did you get this thumbstud accessory? I've been speculating the possibilities of superglueing something to the blade of one of my Buck folders (I'm perfectly willing to experiment with my Buck Protege because it only costed me $20 at Wal-Mart), but if there is something actually made for this, that would be great. I've heard talk about modified Bucks (automatic 110's, thumbstud 110's, etc.), but I've never actually seen any of this stuff in real use (I'd like to give it a try). Thanks, and to anyone else reading, are there any homemade thumbstud ideas for which I don't need to buy an accesory kit? (superglue and a chunk of cardboard?

comrade chang;

I have seen them for sale in the smokey mountain catolog, but I picked one up at the gun/knife show that is going on this weekend here in wichita. Its like having a whole new knife. I feel like a kid with a new toy. Been opening and closing my XLTi for hours now!

By the way, they require no modification, or alteration of your kife at all. They are simply a stud that slips over the spine of your blade, and locks in place with an allen set screw. Can be simply added or removed as desired, as long as you have a allen wrench the correct size. I'll probably put a drop of blue lock tight on mine, when I am satisfied it is where I want to keep it.

I don't have a phone for them.

Smoky Mountain Knife Works does carry them in two size - small for blade widths up to 1/8 in and large for 1/8 up to 3/16 in widths.

You can reach SMKW by calling 800 information at 1-800-555-1212. SMKW is in Sevierville, TN. Area code is 423.

These are great, functional gadgets, especially at a cost of $4.99. And that includes an Allen wrench. They don't do much to make a nice knife look nicer, but they are a very functional and reliable add-on.

Regards,
Ray

You guys wanna hold it down a bit?

If my wife finds out she can get a functional and reliable accessory stud for only $4.99 I'd be out in a millennium minute.
