Accidental Wave??

Heyz folks. I know lots of you love the wave feature, me included, but is it true that the wave was an accidental design?
I found this phrase on Emerson's website:

As with many clever creations, the Wave came about by accident. Emerson designed one of the knife’s features to do one thing (we can’t tell you what that one thing is because, as noted, the design is patent pending). Not only does it do that one thing but it also resulted in the fast-opening
feature, a feature he said he plans to adapt to other models in his line.

What then is the "one thing" that is mentioned here??
could someone inform me abt it??
~!thanks!~ in advance

Ah...I see.. you mean that the Wave feature was designed to catch the pocket sides(the one thing) to deploy the blade, but it not only did that, but went one step ahead, by resulting in a speedy opening?

Nope.

Someone in the Navy apparently thought that the little Wave would save someone's hand as a real-deal blade catcher. That is my "take" on it anyway.

In other words, if two Combatants crossed blades, that might save your hand from someone "following you blade into your hand" using their blade.

This Wave is far too small for Jim Keating's Crossada-effect, I'm sure that this might happen in Combat, just as Hollister or someone else might sell me an ES1-M or a 98 Commander...heh heh heh...

You mean it's not one of those thingees you slide down cables on? Damn... guess I've been using it incorectly (that would explain the groove I'm making in the blade...)

at least that's better... ya know...commander....should be used for stuff like self defence, det-cord, cutting wire fences...I mean something tactical....cables kind of fit in the category...
but beer??
hmm...

A buddy of mine tried the "Bottle Opener" trick with her Commander. She didn't recommend it. Matter of fact she said it'd be easier to use your teeth to get the cap off.

Hmmmmm?

John does your female friend have a name and number?

Carries and Emerson and would rather open up bottles with her teeth. She sounds like she'd be lottsa fun
