Boy, I get it tough somedays. I got a chance to do a little photo work on this outstanding knife. It is *such* an 'out-of-the-box' style, I knew you guys would love to see it as well.

This is a BIG and heavy knife. About a 4" blade with a 10" OAL. I have handled and taken shots of a number of Jeff's work, and I can tell you he puts the most precision and perfect fitment into each and every piece. Truly an outstanding maker.

(Before you ask, I don't know the value on this piece. No matter, it is something truly out of the ordinary. Stephen at this website has a pretty good arrangement with Jeff. Maybe give him a shout, but that wasn't the purpose of this post.)

I tried a little different approach on this. I chose to add in the LARGE details, but dimmed them to not steal the focus from the main image. Effective?

Coop, very nice work and a *very* nice subject! That handle treatment looks nutz, haven't seen anything like that before. I like the pics, I think I like your "second" photo better, I like the closeup of the finger cutout. And the dimming is a nice touch. Thanks for posting this one.

I.......want.......more.....I love this piece.....great layout Coop!!
That boy does some mighty work..........larryd

Very effective. That is a great photo, Coop. I think the treatment that you gave the large details works superbly. That is one beautiful art folder.

Although I know that this knife was never meant to be used, could you imagine trying to clean the dirt out of that handle?

Gorgeous stuff. Are the bars in the handle bronze? Or Ti? In any case, this is a beautiful piece.

Amen to all above, but gotta chuckle at the name "Achims Razor". Of course we all know that Ockhams Razor is the ancient principle of logic which states "that which is simplest is best". Nothing simple going on with this knife !!

Joss: I'm not sure what the material is for the bars. It *may* even be a gold of some sort. The more I look at that crazy cutout, I wonder how he acheived it. Hell, it looks like it was blown out from the inside! (and maybe with some scribe lines to guide it, it was! I dunno. )

Also what I hadn't mentioned was that is a slab of jade on the inside of the windows. Very unusual and difficult.

And the action on it is SOOOOOO smooth and polite, it doesn't agree with the aggressive looks. It has a locking bar milled in a recess in the handle, BTW.

AHA!!!! "Ockham's Razor" it is!!! Thanks Mike! :footinmou That was MY poor spelling of the name. I only heard it. Damn if I did a Google search, and that name had pages of links, so I figgerred it was the real deal.

"Ockham's razor (Attributed to: William of Ockham (1285-1349), English theologian and philosopher.)(also spelled Occam's razor, pronounced AHK-uhmz RAY-zuhr), is the idea that, in trying to understand something, getting unnecessary information out of the way is the fastest way to the truth or to the best explanation."

AKA, the simplest explanation is generally the right one. Great knife, but I'm not sure the name matches - this is not exactly a simple knife.

As Sheriff McCloud would say "There ya' go". Now, applying Ockhams Razor to this beautiful piece, I think you'd end up with a Scagel Persian :D
