Hey everyone. I posted some pics of my blade refinishing and mods here last week and a few people seemed to be interested in how I did it. I’ve also been getting a ton of messages on Facebook and Instagram, so I decided to just make a tutorial video. The video is long, but it goes through all of the steps and the knife in the video actually ended up in the hands of its designer on the same day! It’s a pretty cool story if you watch till the end. Anyway, here it is... Hope it helps someone here who’s looking to learn.

Wow... Beautiful!!!

Using your video and tutorial I completely started over on a Ontario Rat 1 which in acid and stone washed 2 days ago. I posted pics of it before and after under Ontario knives, which this was my first attempt at any knife mod/customization (I can’t even sharpen a knife with a handheld sharper to my liking)....

Anyways, saw this post and just finished completely sanding off the old acid wash, made the jimping more aggressive (with what few non powered hand tools I have), and used bb’s mixed with pennies plus nickles versus quarter size rocks found outside.

The results on are night and day difference in looks but also how smooth the blade opens as I polished/sanded some areas to help. Thanks to you I went from this:

Prepped AGAIN:

Ready for acid:

Final results which thanks to you and your video my knife looks night/day difference while opening more silky smooth than out of the box, thanks!!!

Like you aren't busy enough, why don't you just start a modding service. ;) Could help you get closer to that custom Vox.

As far as your question “why”, not saying this in rude way but genuinely honest, because I wanted to… I recently found the Ontario rat knives which have really impressed me also they are cheap enough that I can practice doing some custom mods to and if I completely screw up I’m only out 20 to 30 bucks.

I do not want to call myself a nice maker or a custom knife guy Because it’s too cliché with all the forged in fire or other TV shows that make the true craftsmanship seem like anyone can do it in a very little time. However I am out of the corporate world and looking or starting a few ventures which I have thought about some type of niche market that focuses around knives (deep carry pocket clips that don’t cost $25-35 and take 2-4 weeks shipping time ) BUT back to the thread thanks again NORTHWEST_KNIFE_GUY!

Kcklassic I'm sorry for any confusion that I caused. My comment was directed to Casual_Cutter, he is so active on YouTube, Instagram, and a few FaceBook groups I was making a joke on how busy he is.
