Acid Etching Small SS Hardware?

Have any of y'all ever acid etched a T6 or T8 screw with ferric chloride? What were the results? I have a few knives I've etched the pocket clips on just to kill that high polished shine and I would like to do the same thing to the screw caps as well. I would paint the threads with nail polish first but my concern is with the Torx drive, I kind of doubt that 6-8 mins of exposure could remove enough steel to make a significant difference but I figured I'd see if people have had success on here before trying anything, T6 is quite small after all.
