Acid etching to hide scratches on blade??

I'll first say have no experience at all with acid etching. If a blade has some scratches, will acid etching it hide them?? Just toying with the idea.

Acid etching is just more scratching the blade, but chemically instead of mechanically- so if you scratch the scratch, but in a pleasing pattern, you nailed it. Etch the heck out of it. Or take the buffing/polishing/stropping approach?
