Acquired some knives, curious on value.

My grandfather is moving and has given me a lot of things he has had just lying around for years including some Benchmades and Spydercos, but also these two knives. I haven't hear of them since I'm a relative rookie in knife collecting but considering his taste I'd imagine they aren't cheap. Anyone have insight into the value of these?

Thanks!

There's a Randall Collectors forum here that might help. Not sure on the Al Mar. My guess is an older SERE. That's some nice stuff "lying around".

I think i'm safe in saying that your grandad has given you probably somewhere around $1000 worth of knives in just these two.

This! Search ebay completed listings for some real prices people are paying for Randall and Al Mar.

I wish my grandfather collected something cool like this!

I agree, that is a great gift. If I was you, I'd hang onto those no matter what.

Congrats! Those are two amazing knives, really those are very impressive.

Not seeing a Randall forum?

It's in the manufacturers forum, specifically the collectors forums at the bottom.
If you would like your thread moved there, just click the "report post" icon (the little triangle in the lower left corner of all posts) and use it to request that your thread be moved.

I was given 2 knives and want to know more about them, but especially the Randall. I LOVE the way this knife feels. I've only collected folders up until now, but these has me drooling for more. What do I have here?

If you look on the back of the sheath there should hopefully be some numbers ie: 3 7, 1 7 or just a 6, 7, 8. The first number tells you what model you have and the second tells you what length blade. If it's a single number it's the length of the blade and is probably a model #1 or #5. I'm not sure what model you have but the handle is what they call a single finger grip. It may be a model 3 or 4. Nice looking knife.

The Al Mar is a SERE IV, the Randall is a #12-6 'Little Bear Bowie'. Both are early to mid 1990's knives. The combined value is ~$1000 as stated above. Your Grandfather did you right. Take care of them and they'll only increase in value over time. Thanks for the share.

That randall knife is optioned, so in my opinion it does show your grandfather has good taste in knives I like the style he chose for that one.
