Is there a thread out there that will show me some of the basic acronyms that are used in this site. I'm assuming that "pm" means personal message sent, or does it mean payment sent. What does "spf" mean? There's a few others that I just don't have a clue what they mean. I'm a little behind in the technology area, and only use my cell phone to talk on...imagine that.

Any help would be appreciated.

PM is personal or private message, SPF is sold pending funds. As in, as long as the money arrives the item is sold.

spf= sold pending funds
pm= private message

Hope this helps you and take it FWIW and YMMV depending on how far behind you on on technology AFAIK those are gonna be the ones most used but, YCLIU Like I just did, and confuse you a little more most sellers on here are gonna say CONUS only on there sales or trades, which sucks for some but that's just how it is.SCNR putting all these acronyms in one sentence for you. BTW hope you don't like busse knives or you are screwed. Oh yea RLTW too!!

Hahaah, thats just mean! ;-)

.....ohh, yeah and ROFL

RTFM ya FNG! jk ;) (RTFM= Read The Fricking Manual FNG=Freaking New Guy jk=joke) The interwebz loves acronyms, but if you google it real quick it generally becomes apparent what they mean. They can get particularly confusing if an acronym has more than one meaning. I know one person who uses LOL as Lots of Love. Which can make some messages awkward (Sorry to hear your cat died. LOL.)

What other acronyms do you want to know?

Here are some that show up here sometimes:

IIRC - If I Recall/Remember Correctly

IMO - In My Opinion

IMHO - In My Humble/Honest Opinion

WTT - Willing To Trade

WTS - Willing To Sell

EDC - Everyday Carry

SAK - Swiss Army Knife

CRK - Chris Reeve Knives

PM2 - Spyderco Paramilitary 2

CF - Carbon Fiber

Welcome to BFs!

conus = Continental United States. In the For Sale forums, many folks will only sell/trade in the US to avoid the delay (customs) and cost of going to Canada or overseas.

Didn't see anyone else explain these yet, but

(B)NIB = (Brand) New In Box
LNIB = Like New In Box

Wow (not a acronym that I know of), thanks guys for the quick response!. I seems like a couple of you are having some fun with me. Some day I may "get" what you're saying. Some good stuff here! I never would have figure most if any of them out.

I'm trying to think of more knife specific examples. HRC refers to Rockwell hardness of a material, IKBS is the Ikoma Korth Bearing System that uses ball bearings in the pivot of a folder to make it smoother and faster and IWB refers to carrying a knife (or gun, or whatever I suppose) Inside your WaistBand.

...and then the sales ad promises only $100 TYD (delivered To Your Door)
