Acrylic handles...

I've got a knife (or rather a few) with plastic handles and they're getting scratched up. I tried taking them to my buffing wheel...BIG MISTAKE. It basically turned them to goo.

Do any of you guys know how to buff out fine scratches on an acrylic handle?

Buff with as little pressure as possible and white or pink compound. The key is NO pressure and stop as soon as a shine begins to come up. That "little bit more" will spell disaster.
