I have an AD & BAD… hoping you can help me clarify two things.

BAD (top knife) at 0.137” thick, handle material?

Other AD (bottom knife)
What variant is it?
Handle material?

Blade info: FHFG, 0.1755”, Zero-Edge
Extra info: sterile, 0.815” thick handle

Thx for looking/your help.

Guessing no logo on the AD?

Both appear to have black canvas on them.
Yep, bottom one = no logo

The close up spine shot confused me a bit (if they’re both black canvas)… because they look fairly different.

It's all in the sheet of micarta, & the cut.
This limited set with smoothed black canvas handles were done for the same show.

Other thoughts:
If .175" thick, probably started life as a Milganza blank. They were approx .19"
No logo...there was a time period when Busse's logo laser was down, with delays on service. Many knives had to go to a few shows without getting lasered. I remember a Blade West show specifically from preview pix, & still have 2 sterile DCBB Nuke AD's from the after-show Trough drop Scott (idahoskunk) ran online.
I don't remember any AD'S convexed by the Shop, but as much as I love the model, there's no way I've seen every custom shop AD, not even close. But there was another period of time that convexing edges were a thing, popular for awhile. I 'vexed a fat .27" GW that easily push cut through phone books. Very sharp for a fat knife 🤙

Thank you so much for sharing all of that information! It’s amazing the history you have under your belt.👍🏼

Absolutely love both of these! The AD is one of my all time favorite EDCs!

There's a few things on that bottom AD that make me think it was after market / 3rd party mods. The only convex edge from Busse I've seen that is that high up and pronounced was on the 2008 SE Sarsquatch. The 2nd thing that seems to differ from Busse norms, is the curvature of the micarta around the talon and lanyard holes. Much more relaxed on your AD that the typical Busse that conforms to the radius of the talon & lanyard holes. And lastly, that curve at the top of the ricasso where the blade grind meets the flat, is not seen on your typical Busse of that era. Early blades in A2 steel had similar... but nothing I recall in models in that era.

I agree with Jaxx that it was probably a milganzaaa AD originally... and that's definitely black micarta.

Ban was doing regrinds around that time... with convex edges that looked exactly like that. Maybe it was one of his regrinds.

An absolute beauty, none the less!

Thank you very much guys. Keen eye on the little details!

Maybe no-logo also supports being reworked.

I’ll poke around old pics a bit & will be looking to see if any others used the same mosaic pins.
