Who here has an active duty and what do you think of it? I might keep my eyes peeled for one in battle grade....

I like them enough that I bought several BG ADs to give as Christmas presents last year. For whatever that's worth.

If you can find a BAD...they are higher on the Rockwell scale. Around 62 I believe. The ultimate in terms of slicing & edge holding ability! If you tend to abuse your EDCs, a CG or BG will fit the bill perfectly. Personally, I love having a Busse that I DON'T actually abuse:p

The AD is a great knife---Utility,small camp or hunting knife.
Most guys that have them have more than one...Myself included.
The BAD's are as snwbrdr said excellent slicers & the highest Busse rating,62 on the Rockwell scale.
You won't be disappointed.

I love the design.
I've had two, both Bony Active Duties. Cutting machines.

Wish I still had them.

What Brendan said+++1:thumbup:

I know I've got more than one and still grabbed some battle grades :-)

I've just scored a BGAD from AZTimT and it's in transit now. I can't wait!! My first SR-101 :D

BTW what's the story behind the blade profile change from the leaf shape to the current one? I like both personally.

They are super awsome!!
Thats why i have four of them :)

I've got a rather large bunch.

I find the knife very desirable. Just the right size, shape, design to be rather "omni-useful."

I have a ridiculous selection of handle materials.:o

Stating only about the knives here...the awesome folks both on here & at Busse aside; I give credit to the Game Warden for drawing me in, but the Active Duty is my favorite small Busse and what kept me in. Any flavor. Any thickness.

The original Custom Shop Active Duty is my most-used Busse Blade. It is my favorite Busse for several reasons, not the least of which is the following story, for the newcomers:

The most special - a Bussy Custom Shop Active Duty.

This one requires background. My then 21 year old daughter Kimberly was lying in a nursing home in 2003, having just come out of a vegetative state from being struck in a hit and run in 2002. She was just becoming able to respond to things said to her. I had just received a new Active Duty, and took it to the nursing home to show her. As a child she had been my hunting and fishing buddy, an avid outdoorswoman. When I held the knife up in front of her, she reacted to it, smiling and giving a feeble thumbs up. Then and there I promised her that I would save it for her, for the time when she could hunt with me again.

I told this story on the Busse forum. About a week later a package arrived, containing another Active Duty, and a note from Jerry and Jennifer saying that their prayers and thoughts were with Kim, and that they were replacing the AD that I had promised to Kimberly. This is my Active Duty, a gift from the Busses, and it will never, ever be for sale. It being a superb little knife and one of the best Busse models ever made is just a bonus."
