Active Duty or Leaner Meaner?

I have a reasonable collection of large and medium Busses, but I was thinking about chasing down a smaller EDC type of blade. Active Duty (or BAD) and Leaner Meaner seem like the lead contenders; compare the feel of these two and cast your vote. Any other recommendations are welcome also (skeleton key anyone?).

Both great choices. I would add SAR3, Basic 4, Cultie, and recent release Anniv. Mean Street

If you are looking at kin: RS is hard to beat, HC, Vex, SS4 are also good additions

Man oh Man this is one of those loaded Q's!!! I like them both and have had many of both. I've always enjoyed just that little bit of extra hilt of the MNR, but I have large hands. I also like the GW's cause they just saddle up in the palm of my hand and simply put the GW is just an awesome knife and it will certainly be legal in more places than the AD or MNR. If the law is not a concern than let the size of your hand dictate your choice. Just my .02!!!

I really like my CG AD and BAD for EDC. I like my LMNR, but that little bird beak pommel can jab you in the ribs if you carry it in a high ride sheath.

Agreed. This is a tough one and I think I would go with the AD just cause it would be bigger then my AS but would be a nice small EDC.

A satin BAD with canvas slabs. Can't be beat.

Chris.

Anniversary Mean Street - .155" thick, longer handle than the AD or LnrMnr, and best of all, available for order on the Busse Combat site right now!

I was really wanting to snag a LM at Blade but ended up catching a AD,all good as I really love them both.

I love my meaners above all of my other small blades but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend an AD. You win either way.

SkeleKey, B.A.D., or a Culti, next larger knife, A.B.A. a Basic #3 for the Toolbox, a Pork Belly Skinner.
Define your use, form follows Function

I prefer the AD as I find the slightly smaller blade more useful. I need a "small knife" solution and the GW handle was just too small for me.

I had an AD for years and recently traded it for an LMS. Of the two, the LMS seems to have that little bit more reach that makes it into a perfect fixed blade EDC for my uses.

I love the original .150 AD's, but the LrMrS is my favorite Busse

Which did you go with ?

Having had and let go a good number of meaner's and active duties and basic 4s... sigh ...

My re-entry to Busse now brings me a very nice Max Duty! And I am loving this as an excellent smaller - edc knife

The Max Duty is great, love the texturing and thinness of the handle…. :)

Agreed on the jabbing part. I get the same situation when high riding my anniversary mean street. I'd go for a Game Warden in the Busse line or R3 in the swamp rat side of the family. Short handles work out great for me! ALL the small Busse/kin blades I've seen would do a fine job .... You can also look at a horizontal sheath....

.....Anniversary mean street on top, R3 on the bottom....
