for edc, wich would/do you prefer?

i personally like the looks of the ad's handle, but prefer the longer curve of the buffalo soldiers blade... the ad also has the full thickness spine area, without losing any cutting ability.

what are your opinions?

Hi Seth,
I got a AD sooooo send me a BS (knife!:D ) and I´ll let you know a.s.a.p.;)

For concealability, AD hands down. If that is not an issue, you can't go wrong with either. I packed the AD the whole time I was at the hospital this weekend and no one ever knew it was on my belt. Of course I do carry it in a kydex sheath of my own creation and it does sit higher on the belt than the factory leather pouch. The Buffalo Soldier rides with me most days in a pouch sheath and rarely creeps below the shirt line.

how does it compare in use though? im my area, theres not to much need for concealability, though were i to ever travel, id have to take that into consideration.

wich handle do you feel gives better/more natural purchase?

aliass - heh... im pretty sure i can get one in my hands to test out myself if it comes down to the wire, but thank you for the offer :)

Hey PG, let's see those sheaths of yours for the two knives mentioned, and if possible a side-by-side of the two blades as well. I have the BS, but no AD... and am curious as well.

Will do when I get a spare second or two. :)

im trying to get ahold of an ad to see the difference first hand... but, until im able to find one,

if you had niether of these knives, and were to be given one of your choosing as a gift, wich would you choose?

Seth,

I don't have any of them and I would pick the AD if someone (wink, wink, nudge, nudge!:D) gave one to me!

Seth, I have the BS and I love it, the full flat grind and "zero" edge (which I believe both blades have) are really cool. The BS is a very utilitarian blade design with lots of belly and it feels really good in the hand in the various grips. Also works in the kitchen. I have not used the AD but I would guess it shares many of these characteristics. The AD seems easier to hide/carry but the BS seems like a more "heavy duty" blade - just my .02, hope it helps.

i thought so to when i first thought about it (that the bs is a heavier duty blade), but looking at the ad, the tip taper is about the same length, if not shorter on the ad. while the ad is hollow ground (i beleive), it also has the full spine thickness at its top. its also, again i beleive, slightly shorter then the bs. while the hollow grinding would put the edge at greater risk of being damaged by a torqueing motion, the spine itself seems stronger for light prying applications, and having the blade be shorter from your hand to tip, you wouldnt be putting as much bend on the blade while prying.

im also wondering about the grip... because im not really a fan of the 3rd generation grips... they work well, but they feel like they slip in your hand, when using the index finger groove... (my hands are big, but they they will be considerably bigger in about 10 years. curves on a handle are a good thing :))

the thing i like more then anything about the bs is its long fully curved cutting surface, perfect in my opinion. my only worry about the ad is that having the point lower, and having a shorter less curved cutting suface, ill be aware of it in a way that ill notice it during everday cutting tasks. id rather have more cutting curve then a pointier tip, but i very well may to grow the opposite approach once i recieve my ad (i found a seller :D) just a few random thoughts... i will be able to give a first hand in about 2 weeks :D
