I lift, run and hike on a daily basis. I always carry a knife for protection and utility. For the last two years I have been carrying a spyderco military (I carry it on my waistband with the clip, so half the knife is in contact with my body, surprisingly comfortable). I run 5 miles 3-4 times a week and the knife gets drenched in sweat, sweat is super corrosive so I clean and oil my knife weekly, but the stop pin and screws keep rusting. Surprisingly the blade has zero rust and its only s30v. I am in search of a knife for large hands, which also has rust free hardware, and a pretty corrosion resistant blade. I can spend up to 450. I would easily pick a spydiechef or a quiet carry waypoint, but they are simpy too small. So far im considering a SOCOM elite, large sebenza 31, or a pm2 in dlc. any suggestions? also do microtech and CRK use fully rust free hardware?

I wouldn't obsess over a little rust/discoloration. The Military is a great choice and designed to stand up to hard use (mine is in S110V). Try some rust preventive like BreakFree CLP if that bothers you... or just don't sweat it.:D

Lifting, Running and Hiking calls for the Benchmade Bugout. Simply for insanely light weight and ease of carry during those activities.

Clip it in your running shorts pocket, it stays away from direct sweat that way. But it shouldn't matter on a plastic / S30V piece.

All of the knives you are considering so far run about 5 ounces. The Bugout is less than 2 ounces, and in carbon fiber is right at the 2 mark.

Seems like the lighter the piece the better for your activity choices.

You do you though.

Brian Tighe and Friends large Twist Tighe OTF. 3.75 blade, aluminum handle.

I also carry iwb while working outside. Ive been carrying the CS Air Lite lately. The AUS10 blade wll get soaked with sweat daily. I rinse it off at night and shake the water out.
For a bigger knife to fill your needs, try the CS Voyager. Also AUS10 steel. I ve also used this a a work knife with no rust.

Caribbean, Pacific Salt, SS Police.

Actually, your best option is just replace the hardware. I'm sure there are more rust resistant screw replacement kits for your Military.

If you're just dying for another knife, I think Spyderco makes some large Salt folders. Rust free.

Are you opposed to a fix blade?

Folders, and comfort never equated to me....idk?
I just figured folders were for opening ONE box....

If I had knife needs that required longer, id Always want Fixed.
-unless I lived in a restricted state like New York City. :(

I carry a good sized knife 11 o'clock appendix carry.
It's Very comfortable for running, crouching, jumping, sleeping.

With a 450 limit, you'd be set up like a King.

Another vote for Spyderco Salt series. H1 or LC200N steel.

Actually, the Pacific Atlantic has a slightly longer blade length then the Salt.

Or replace the hardware as others have said.

Heck, with that budget, get a Pacific Atlantic and replace your hardware on your Military and still have some left over.

We like helping people spend $.

Sadly there an't very many knives available with Vanax Super Clean steel yet. You mentioned the Quiet Carry brand. It seems that there are more European knife makers using this steel. You might try doing a search for Steingraber Performance Knives. The Sasquatch model looks like it would fit a larger hand compare to the Shark. Good luck!

LMAO guy asks for rust-free knives and the first recommendation is a K390 spyderco.

I agree to the poster above. How about a Spyderco Titanium Military (fluted or plain) with aftermarket ti hardware?
