Actress helps the Gurkhas

i was reading that yesterday & the day before when she left for nepal,
we had major discussions about this and her in the Cantina (where this will no doubt get moved):

she did a lot more that just 'help' - she was the driving force that overcame the pinch penny scotsman and his ilk in government. i hope she runs for parliament.

fresh from his 'victory' over the gurkhas, our PM, gordon brown, who by his own admission saved the world in the current financial crisis, now insists that in his opinion, based on his years of military service (0.00) the british army in afghannystan is the best equipped in the world (in spite of them pesky generals who say otherwise and want more helicopters and mine resistant vehicles), is now denying compensation to soldiers wounded in action:

gordon's brigade goes from strength to strength after their friday 'victory' in a by-election (the govt. forced out an MP over the objections of his constituents for minor irregularities in his expenses, while govt. ministers with worse were allowed to stay (they supported gordon, he didn't). his 'resignation' forced an election to fill his seat - the govt. claims victory as they came in second & were expecting to do a lot worse. his 'reforms' to the expense accounts for parliament is a masterpiece of do-nothing status quo legislation, all smoke and mirrors.

meanwhile jeremy clarkson, from the BBC's top gear program (where they blow things up) who was forced to apologise to gordon for calling him a one-eyed idiot on air. ( he is blind in one eye), did so by apologizing for the reference to his visual disability. (and wording it so it was apparent he did NOT apologise for the idiot part :)), was in trouble again for calling the PM a 'c*nt' off-air during a recording session for the program. i hope he runs for parliament too!

Sorry folks. Can you tell I don’t hang out here much? I should have realized I was, at the least, tickling a sick horse.

s'allright, we all learn, it's more relaxed down here in the cantina anyway. i was gonna add to the existing thread about her visit to nepal, but you beat me to it, main thing is it did get posted. as was once said by a better man, pull up a chair by the fire, have a beer and set a spell. free crackers in the barrel over yonder...

watching joanna on the boob tube has always been a pleasure, even more so watching her make fools of the govt. ministers on tv for the news. they didn't stand a chance against her. i am glad to see the nepalis all appreciate what she stands for with regards to the gurkhas.

I'm sure that, were he alive today, Jimmy Durante would have been a supporter of "da goikas", a-cha cha chaaaa!

Joanna's work has been acknowledged at the highest levels, with the Prime Minister of Nepal according her the honourific "Daughter Of Nepal."
