Well, I think its finally time to invest in an OBD2 code reader and I'mhoping you guys have some suggestions. Naturally, the more features the better and it would be fantastic to be able to monitor sensor data in real time (or even logged)... But I think those features are a little out of buddget.

Can anybody recommend a value-packed OBD-II code reader/scanner (or maybe know of one on sale)? I'm thinking something like the CP9125 is about all I want to spend, but it just seems so...spartan.

I have a CP9125,$60.00 from Autozone about what it costs to have have codes read once at a dealership. It works fine,it's easy to use and has worked flawlessly for a couple years now.:thumbup:If you were doing repairs as a business you might want something more but for a gearhead that just wants to find out what's going on and reset the light,it works fine.

You can just go to most auto parts stores and use a code reader for free.

I think that getting a cable to connect to a laptop and the software is the best bet

Any thoughts on Equus 3030 Innova or Autel MaxiScan MS300? Google searching I can't find much as far as user reviews and they all seem to sport similar features, so I'm thinking go with the best price. Does anybody have any experience with the Innova or Autel units?

It wasn't that long ago ( maybe 8 years ) when I could jam a paperclip into the wiring harness of my 93' mustang and the dash light would blink out the code. Oh how times have changed. Get a decent code reader and a good code manual. It could save you a lot of money.

I have the ScanGauge II which seems like popular choice on different car forums I frequent.
