My bride was "trimming" some hedges around the house, and called me to cut down some (many) newly bare stalks, 1/2 to 1" in diameter. Rather than hunt down my lopping shears, my GH Service model was handy and never been used. Chopped those mini trees down like a hot knife through butter! Even though the stalks were somewhat flexible, My GH blade made short work of them! Blade condition upon completion: couldn't tell it had been used, aside from a few sap stains. Hit it a couple of licks on my strop, and it's ready to do it again. It's rare that I get to really use any of my knives at something constructive, and this one made me look like a champ. Thanks to Craig and all concerned with bringing these fine blades to us. They are really users!:D :D

Hey thats great! I need to get out and try this WWII model of mine. I've got some brush and branches that need a little lopping! I actually haven't had the chance to see how khukuris work in the field despite my recent interest in them. If I'm going to make them I'd better get an idea how they perform and what makes other khuks perform in a different way.

From what I've been reading in the forums and around, the Ang Kholas seem to be the kings of the choppers with the service and WW models being good all around performers. What I'm not sure about is what exactly makes the Ang Kholas better choppers, blade width? blade geometry? I'd like to hear other peoples insights as to what they think makes certain khukuri perform certain tasks better.

AC, you might even find yourself buying khukuris for her someday. Hmmm...a new challenge. Will that Kothimora scabbard go with her shoes and handbag? Or maybe she'd like something a little more practical, like her very own SN1. If she's into accessories the Gangawal might be utilitarian enough.

I always thought a little Balance khukuri looked good with my spouse, but she never quite took to it. Of course, she likes it just fine when I'm swingin' one.

Welcome, and I hope you'll make yourself at home.

Guy, I think the extra weight is mainly what makes the AK a better heavy duty chopper. At least that's what's goin' on with my 25" Panawal. The kids remarked how nifty a Mini Jungle looks along side it. The contrast makes me grin a little also.
