Hey guys I was looking at getting a new Ken Onion designed knife and the site says the blade steel is Acuto+. I have no idea what this steel is, how it performs, or what it compares to. I don't want to buy a $200 knife and have no idea what it is. Anyone have any experience with this steel? I would post a pic of the knife but I don't think it would be right in this forum.

Also I wouldnt mind getting ahold of some of this steel to do some testing on, if it is available. Is it just a trademark for a common or known alloy?

Thanx

I believe I read that it performs similarly to AUS8 but I can't find anything to back that up.

are you looking at at CRKT? i have a KO CRKT with the acuto+ and i've found it to be much tougher than AUS8. edge holding seems similar, but more than one AUS8 knife i've had has succumbed to edge damage resulting in gnarly divots in the cutting edge.

Actually it is a CRKT. I have had several of their knives through the years and found their stuff to be quite nice as long as the blade steel is up to par. I have had some of their AUS4 knives and they suck.

So its better than AUS8? Better be for that price tag. Anyone else have any info?
