Hi everyone, I’m thinking of purchasing the ad10 folder, but before I do that I wanted to know if the clip is removable or not. What I mean is that if you remove the clip, then those two screws holding the clip will not be able to fit in the same hole? Because they are slightly longer than the ones on the other side right? Do I need to cut the screws to make them short,or do they still fit in the same hole? I’m asking this because I like folders without clip. Does anybody know? Thanks.

Are you talking about the Cold Steel version? If so, then you might not have to cut the screws down. They are longer but not much longer. They probably won’t even be close to contacting the blade

Tried it for ya just now. The screw won't go all the way flush into the handle though just a bit sit above the handle surface. To Silvanus Silvanus - those screws go into the backspacer, so touching the blade is a non issue.

Thank you for your answers. Yes I am talking about ad10 from cold steel. I’m sorry I forgot to mention. Really appreciate for your kindness. Taking time and effort to actually taking apart your ad10. What a great forum.

Won’t go flush into the handle? means those two screws are not holding the g10 scales. Am I correct? That means I can’t go clipless using those original screws right?

It's not ideal, but it's probably not enough to make the scales noticeably loose. If it bothers you, either get shorter screws, or file the screws down by a few threads. You may even want to file the screws from the opposite side, so that you leave a little more length on the clip-side screws to allow for putting the clip back on if you change your mind.

Screw cutters are extremely cheap, so you might try that. Vise Grip wire strippers have a screw cutting function that works surprisingly well and they're $10 on Amazon, plus are useful for electrical work.
