No, actually not….Alex Collins was a black man and quite a character.

It's wild that a guy who made such cool knives for several years could just vanish from all social media and existence!

I've made a little headway. I've come to learn that Mr Collins operated out of Columbus Ohio, and along with a Tim Shindle, used the moniker "Dark Earth Tactical".
Using that info, I've been able to find more about the knife that sparked this line of questioning.

I'm still going to keep digging- I'd like to learn more about them and possibly why they ceased operations.

Unfortunately I’m afraid it happens all the time to many that attempt ‘full-time Knifemaker’….a rough go especially these days, probably more so than in the past….and that was tough.

Craig at Empire Outfitters sold a lot of their knives back around 2015-2016. He had a lot of good things to say about them (Adam, Tim, and the knives). Apparently there was some bad blood with an ex wife that wanted a piece of the biz, so they just nixed the whole thing.
Both guys went on doing their daytime gigs.
They were out of Columbus Ohio.

They definitely made some tanks.. guys who like Medfords would LOVE them.

I searched around and, like you say, most operations seemed to cease around 2016….too bad.
