Hey all, I came acoss this knife maker by the name of Michael Kanter. He has a knife company that he named after his son, Adam Micheal Knives, cool huh?! Anyway, Michael is really a great guy & I was very tempted to buy one of his many beautiful knives @ the Chicago Custom knife show, but since I never heard of him before, I come to you people for any help that you can proivide.Has anyone had any experience with his knives or Michael as a maker?

I am in no way any kind of an expert, but looking close at his knives, he really had taken alot of time & care into putting them together & the attention to details was very noticeable.

Blade steel is ATS-34, BG-42 or S60V that he had available.

Prices for the fixed blades were right around the $475 mark....give or take depending on what you wanted, of course. But again, since I never heard of the guy or his knives before, I was hesitant on buying one. Paying close to $500 for a knife makes me hesitate anyway :D

So, if you have any stories about this guy or his knives, please share them as I would like to possibly do some business with this guy.

Here is his link: www.adammichaelknives.com

Whatever didn't sell at the show, he was going to put them back onto his site soon, so more knives might be available for your viewing pleasure :)

A cool thing thatI just found out.......this guy's shop is right on the way to my grandfathers place in Wisconsin. He is only about 116 miles from me which would make a nice ROAD TRIP!!

Here is hoping that I get some good news back on this guy!

Check out the knife called the HUNTER under the available knives. This is similar to what I was looking at, at the show. The one I wanted had a Maple handle & African Blackwood with other things on it & a 4" BG-42 blade...aw, it was niiiiiiiiice! But dang that is alot of moola! Guess quality & beauty don't come cheap!

I never heard of him before. But he sure makes beautiful knives with great materials. Nice website for viewing them.

How about anyone else out there?

Take a peak-a-boo on his site & tell me what you think....P-L-E-A-S-E

I am thinking about buying the D'Amico knife he has just listed. See if there is any room to negotiate price, but it is soooooo beautiful!

Anyone? No one?

You have excellent taste there sixfeet. There's not one I didn't drool over and I think the D'Amico was the first one to really get my saliva going. That baby is just over the top .

I notice that the D'Amico photography is done by our esteemed SharpByCoop. Hopefully he will chime in here and describe his experience.

Thanks for turning me/us on to such a wonderful knife maker.

I have had alot of handling time with Adam Michael Knives but i think that may be because I am the maker so I dont know if that counts.

I have been making knives for about 4 years now and it is a hell of alot of fun.

Thanks for the kind words about my knives. I try to do something a little different when I make a knife. I think the anodized titainium really jumps out.

As far as the price ..... everything in life is negotiable. Trades will always be considered. (Chris Reeve damascus Sebenza maybe?)

My 6 year old son is a big Milwaukee Brewers fan and this knife is named after a Pitcher who was on the Brewers a few years ago.

I have a pic of a walrus ivory hunter with mammoth tooth bolsters in the gallery section of my web site and i would love to hear any comments about it, positive or negative.

Thanks

Swing hard in case you hit it!

Sixfooter: Well, I only 'owned' this knife for about a half hour, but in that time I was truly impressed. For a skinner/hunter series work this was surprisingly well made and nicely outfitted.

Michael and his family were *very* accomodating, and as we all are learning, half of the value of a knife is the relationship with the maker.

Good on all counts. :D
