Its a pain in the a$$ if you get a piece that is not stabilized well. It can be very brittle and porus. Have super glue handy. Grind slow, dont get it hot. Coat it with super glue, let it dry for a day, grind some more and get ready for a few hours of hand sanding. This piece was very stabil and went better than I expected. Be very patient if you try it.

Good luck.

YOWSA!!!!

Now that is one sweet asss knife!

Wonderful choice in materials as well Michael... I don't think it can get better than Rados steel and mammoth tooth. And you definitely did it justice.

Frigg'n CLEAN too!

The fit of the spacers is what really catches my eye on the F&F... not many people nail that without at least a few little gaps. Yours looks to be air-tight.

A+ dude!!! :D

What?! No dovetails?! :D

That is utterly beautiful Michael. This is why we have the Michael Kanter Admiration Society in our house - looking at knives like that makes Jeanie and me very happy.

Choice of materials is fantastic and your filework is truly fine. All the parts look perfectly air tight like Nick said. That's really nice work and is going to make my drive to work this morning a happy one, just thinking what this beauty looks like. I'll show my boss when I get there, he's learned to appreciate knives too. ;)

Thanks for sharing!

Awesome Michael!!!!!!!!!!!
I've never seen finished mammoth tooth before, it's gorgeous!
I agree with Nick, the fit and finish of the bolster, spacer, handle area is really slick!
Is the red stuff colored epoxy or is it actual spacer material? Also, are the metal spacers held in by anything besides epoxy? I've never used metal for spacers but as grand as that looks I might start!!
Outstanding knife Michael!!!

You got an A+ from Nick! It don't get much better than that. I will echo his sentiment.

There are brick colored spacers in between the copper and ti spacer and the epoxy is colored to match the spacers. There pacers are not pinned in place but you would not believe how difficult it is to get them out. I fit them real tight before they are epoxied in.

I am working on coming up with a way to lock them in place. I have some ideas but i havent tried them yet.

thanks for all the kind words
