Hello everyone, Im a new member here.

I recently ordered a Benchmade Adamas, its still in the mail though. It will be my first folder for EDC, After browsing the site for the last two days I already have 3 other knives on the way in. :D (benchmade 300-1 in blue, mini griptilian and Ka-Bar)
I really love the work some of you guys are doing on your knives (KEYMAN's work is amazing ) and decided to have a go at it. Ill start by ordering some g10 scales and cutting and sanding to fit. Sometime in the next few months ill try making my own micarta as well.

Anyways after numerous searches on Google I cant seem to find a reference as to the actual thickness of the scales, not the handle on the ADAMAS. the site which i plan to buy from has scales in 1/4, 3/8ths, 3/16ths etc....

You emailed me with this question, I think?
I had SilentJohn's knife when I made the scales so I no longer have a knife to go by.
Unless someone who has one chimmes in, I'm not really sure.
I'm thinking they were .140" ish?
John wanted Ramon G10 so I had to get 3/8" (that's the only thickness it comes in) and then mill it down from there.
I think 3/16" (.187") is the closest.
But, that would still be .057" thicker than necessary.
I wouldn't go with my memory though; I'd wait for the facts.
Beside that, you should use the original scales as a template for your customs .

Hey Keyman, thanks for taking the time to answer, I kept searching google images until I came to one that had a nice top/down view of the blades and scales, they looked to be roughly the size of the blade, 0.160 which is very close to 3/16ths, as you point out.

I just ordered a set of scales from http://usaknifemaker.com/. Ill get to work as soon as everything comes in. In the mean time I guess ill keep looking at the tutorials for tips and Ideas.

Thanks again :)

EDIT: That knife is beautiful
