Howdy,
Just bought the Adamas last week. I was looking for a "hard use" folder. Specifically something that if I HAD to use it out in the woods I could. I had never thought of using a folding knife for anything like I would a fixed blade but after I saw this knife I thought why not, if I ever had to this looks like it could get the job done. Especially since I always have my pocket knife on me and sometimes I don't have a fixed blade.

It replaced my Kershaw Boa that I had been edc for about 12 years. I picked the Adamas over some Zero Tolerance and Cold Steel models.

I like big knives so the size is no problem for me at all.

Just wanted to drop in and brag on the Adamas a little. I haven't used it for anything other than cutting some cardboard so far. Hopefully that will be the extent of it's use. I do like the idea of a folder that is capable of some light batoning and things like that since me and the boys do spend some time out on our land and I always have a pocket knife on me.

Has anyone done any bushcraft with this knife yet? Would like to hear how it is holding up.

The Adamas is stout, no doubt about it. I ended up giving mine to my Son (12) who loves it. He batoned with it and apparently thumped on it pretty hard. It developed lateral blade play and I couldn't figure out why for the life of me how, as the Axis mech is one of the better about self-adjusting for wear. Turns out the batoning formed dents in the Axis channels of the liners, and the Axis bar would "catch" in the dents rather than traveling farther, creating non-fully-engaged lockup and hence the blade play. BM made the discovery when I sent it in to have them look at it. Moral: Even the best folder locks can be damaged via batoning.

All that said, I tote a BM Mini-Bone collector and am sold on BM's flat-ground D2. My outdoor cohorts were oogling my mini BC this past Memorial Day weekend, in fact. We were building shelves and I used it extensively to clean up rather ragged 2x4 cuts made with a somewhat dull Skilsaw blade. It stayed super sharp throughout and I didn't touch up the edge until I got home late yesterday.

The Adamas is to my knowledge the stoutest in the Axis lineup. I think it'll do everything you need it to do for sure. My Son loves his, and for better or worse, uses it like he stole it, minus any more batoning.

Prof.

Easily my favourite folding knife. I like that in case I have to abuse it, although it might be permanently damaged it will not fail on me. I did some light chopping by choking back on the handle once, it held up fine for that, but I must have hit a rock though because there's a small chip in the blade. I love how fast and easily it deploys because of the heavy blade and I let it drop closed just as easily. It was my first Benchmade and won't be my last.

Nice choice Ford1911!!

I'm a fan of the Adamas line myself! I bought the tan version a couple of months ago, and liked it so much I went back and bought the fixed blade version and another folder but with black scales just for s**ts and grins! My EDC lately is usually an Adamas and a Griptilian, but I never go without the Adamas!

As far as bushcraft use.., I've used mine a bit in the woods for light carving duty and whatnot and the Adamas didn't even seem to notice. The edge held up very well, the blade coating was unaffected, and the lock is still rock solid. The knife is capable of much more than I've used it for, but that alone encourages me to use it when needed. They're damn fine knives, well designed, well built, and my current favorite.

Congrats on your purchase!!

would you say the Adamas is one of the sturdier folders on the market?
Don't know a ton about all the different knives. I have been collecting guns for about 20 years and have just recently kind of got interested in knives.

As far as I'm concerned it is, at least as far as production knives go. Its got the beefed up axis lock which is thicker than the already sturdy regular axis lock. Also the D2 blade is fairly thick, but not overly so. Its still plenty capable of being a decent slicer with the added benefit of being thick enough to instill confidence when being used for tougher tasks. I really do like this knife a lot, and doubt it will be booted from my pocket soon.., unless I get the 0560 I've been drooling over. Then it might be a fight! LOL

Either way, it's a damn fine knife, and the only one that I've liked so much I bought doubles of it.

I love the Adamas, The only reason I sold mine is because a father wanted to be it for his son fr his 1st knife and i couldn't say no, Add that each knife sold a portion goes to the Ranger assistance foundation, That's just cool

I carved a spoon with mine when I first got it but I haven't done anything more rough on it than that. I absolutely love the blade shape. If I was in charge of benchmade company for a day I would mandate that they make an 810 contego with the blade shape of the Adamas. Just thinking of that handle and blade combo coming together is giving me a woodrow.

love this knife so far.
For some reason since I have bought it I am obsessed with these big heavy duty folders. I am now looking to purchase either a ZT 0200 or another Adamas with the tan handles and partial serratted blade. ( The one i have now is black with plain edge)

Any other knives I should be looking at that fall in the same catagory as beefy folders like the Adamas? Don't want to go much over what I spent on the Adamas though so under $200.

I have a tan auto adamas and love it. Another big beefy knife option is the zt 300 series. In fact I'm considering unloading my adamas for another zt. Even though I may end up selling my adamas it is by far my favorite auto knife, the thing just flys open with authority!

Yes. Definitely one of the sturdier folders on the market.

This guy does some excellent abuse videos.
The adamas surprised him.
PS: Remember to turn on the Closed Captions translation. They are fairly accurate.
