Thinking of picking up an Adamas. Just had a few question.

1) How's the detent? I like a strong detent. I do not like when the blade falls open when shook upside down.
2) Is it true that it has a beefed up Axix lock/omega springs?
3) How does it carry in the pocket?

Hey,
Good choice. Get one. Don't look back.

1) Really good on mine after light tuning

2)No idea, does not seem bigger than a grippie bit I won't caliper it for you, sorry ;)

3) Never carried it in a pouch. It has a low riding clip. Pouch is bulky and very utilitarian, you will look mall ninja if you're not a legit grunt I guess :)
Of course it feels heavy in the pocket but it's not bulky as the knife is quite flat.

Definitely one of my fave BM, and knife overall.

It's a big huge stupid heavy knife, slightly too thick beyond the edge but definitely better slicer than a standard XM-18 :) I love it for sh and giggles, it's like shooting Lapua on gophers as an EDC but hey who cares as long as you are having fun

You had to tweak the pivot to get the detent tension you wanted?

yeah that's it, as it was a bit too tight out of the box. Add a couple drops of T3 oil or any good lubricant and you will get this thick blade flying out like a ballerina. And no blade play whatsoever on mine.

Very good to hear. I actually like a tight pivot.

Other then a 4Max which is 10+ ounces, and very interesting but too expensive for dads budget, this is our heavy folder. We have 2 and both have confidence inspiring detents, strong is the word I would use. At 7+ oz it carries well in levi's and other heavier material pants, and comes with OEM belt pouch. Weight wise, just the BM275, is as heavy as my 1970 Buck 110 plus its leather, but much more capable. We have never had a pocket clip break yet. Diamonds make sharpening BM D2 way easy (Tried sharpening my first one on Sharpmaker's Silicon carbide rods and quickly learned I needed diamonds).
From memory, the Axis springs are bigger, maybe 0.28-ish... Also remember washers, lock bar, stop pin and pivot are larger, but BF member blade boss has a pic of one disassembled:
https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/disassembly-pics-benchmade-275-adamas.1090551/
and BM defines lock geometry and applied engineering principles in their forum:

Benchmade destroys one while measuring on their tubes, along with other vids of Adamas:

The Loco has the exact same heavy duty build as the Adamas.
But the Loco blade is made of S30V with a much higher grind, made for slicing and a more pocket friendly shape.

I've been looking at that one too. Good looking knife. How's the detent?

It’s pretty good
Much like the Adamas.
You can overcome it, but that takes purposeful effort.
I’ve got 3 Loco’s.
One is a slimmed down version with some thin .090” brown canvas micarta scales I made for it.
Factory scales are .155”.
You should check them out.

Good funny post! Real good! It's one thing to look like a mall ninja and another to be one. Have you ever read the actual original post that inspired that phrase? PURE EPIC! I WAS rolling for DAYS! OMG! If I could go back in time, I'd write that first, as douchey as it is, just to have added so epically to pop culture. That phrase will never die!

1) How's the detent? I like a strong detent. I do not like when the blade falls open when shook upside down.

Mine won't fall open on its own (which I would consider unsafe), but if I shake it as hard as I would when putting salt on my food, it starts to come out. When I shake at "stubborn ketchup bottle" level, it comes out partway (and gets sucked back in). Any harder than that and it opens.

This is lighter than other Benchmades I've owned, but not wildly lighter. Still safe, still fine by me.

2) Is it true that it has a beefed up Axix lock/omega springs?

Yes to the lock, not sure about the springs. While the part of the lock you grip is the same size, the actual lock bar is much larger than normal.

3) How does it carry in the pocket?

Better than I expected! It's thick, so it's noticeable to me even in jeans, and it's heavy, so I notice it in shorts. That said, I find it comfortable to carry. I even carry it in gym shorts sometimes.

My Adamas is the only Benchmade I would never sell. I keep this knife in my pouch, and the pouch is zipped inside my EDC bag. I have not gotten a Loco yet but am considering getting one.
