does anybody have a link about a saw cut exactly like the QR ring on the LM wave/charge so it's removable...
i hope it makes sense...

I'm guessing he means is there a saw attachment that would attach to the wave like the quick release lanyard ring?

Found it... sorry if couldn't explain myself...

Great idea! And, it can serve as the basis for other add-on tools. Unfortunately, I have no imagination (is there an imoticon for "duh?"}, and will have to rely on others for their good ideas.

Send this to Leatherman. I'll bet they would be interested.

Hey, that hacksaw looks real useful for cutting big stuff up, where can one get one of those?

I'm pretty sure that thing would fit the Surge, New Wave and both Charge models, right?

My Gawd, that is absolutely BRILLIANT!

Hang on a sec, I'll be right back, I've got to run down to the hardware store.........

Wow! Nice idea, but a couple of concerns:

Will the small nub of the button-lock actually take the push/pull force needed to saw something in half? Also, the lock being press-able by your index finger could easily disengage the tool while in use. =)

I've had pretty good success with this removeable saw blade concept. I only wish that I would have thought of it first! ;)

I posted some more info about it here.

Yeah it seems like a good idea. Certainly it's quicker to put a saw in this than in the blade exchanger.

Two questions though: is there really a possibility for one to inadvertedly push the nub on the thumb lock button while using the saw? And is it really that bad to use on the Surge as you posted in multitool.org?

Yah, it just plain does not work in the Surge. :(
Which as you point out, isn't such a problem, given the Surge already has a blade exchanger.

But it works great in either Charge model. :) I've used a number of different style blades, and cut through a number of different type materials. During use, my natural grip on the tool does not put any pressure on the lock release.

I suppose you could release the lock during use, but not inadvertently.

The Leatherman Charge Ti, Charge XTi, New Wave, and Surge all have the same receptacle, designed for a removeable lanyard ring or belt clip accessory. (The rocker lever that holds the lanyard ring or belt clip in place, also doubles as the blade lock for the inner tools.)

All I'm doing is substituting a modified Sawzall blade. It (of course) fits equally well into all four Leatherman models. BUT, do to the different wider construction of the handles, the Surge does not hold the saw blade securely during use.

The Charge Ti, XTi, and New Wave work fine.
