Hi folks. Newbie here. This will be the first thread I've started, so please excuse any breaches of the rules.
I have recently started collecting knives on a very small scale and budget. I do have a question about my next knife and thought I would start by asking some of you SOG fans.
Briefly as possible....I am thinking of adding a Seal Pup Elite with the smooth edge. I already have the Field Pup. My setup would be basically for weekend camping/fishing trips in and around east Tennessee and the Smokey Mountains. Any hiking would be mainly day excursions from a camp site, or 5-10 mile in and out trips MAX. Any survival scenarios would be emergency only.
My current setup includes a Leatherman Wave and Becker BK-5 Magnum Camp for some of the larger work (chopping and batoning only when absolutely necessary). While the BK would stay at camp I'm wanting to carry the Wave and a mid size (4-6") fixed blade at all times.
Would adding the Seal Pup Elite be a redundancy in my collection? Would I see a great deal of performance increase versus the Field Pup given my intended use and the fact that I would already have the BK for the heavier stuff?
Thanks in advance for any advice! I'll try to keep up with the thread and any forthcoming answers or questions.
