Have you ever worried about your pack unzipped accidentally when you're out in the wood? I thought about it specially for my PSK, the last thing I wanted to find out when I reached for my PSK is my stuff lost because it unzipped accidentally. Here is what I have done. Hope this is one of the value thread for my Beckerhead:D

That is a great idea!!! How does the U-joint hold up though? I might have to get some of those. :D

I think you can find them at your local auto supply. At least that where I bought it ...IIRC.

Did you use a drill press for this, or just a vice and hand drill? I like the idea, but don't think I have the tools to pull it off...

I did not use anything. It came like that for your key chain originally. I think you can buy something similar at wally.;)

Very cool idea, I wonder how it would do for a lanyard QD. Stick on end on your blade, clip the lanyard in somewhere, the just attached as needed. I can see more lateral force applied when I use my lanyards, not some much, opposing force.

Good post, and great idea.

Thank you Moose. Glad you like it.

very interesting... what are those parts called exactly if one were to go into a store to ask for them?

something i do a lot... many of my packs /etc have little toggles on the end of the pull strap, i put the end of one through the loop of the other 2-3 times, making a kind of prussik... and that works out pretty well. they don't tend to come aprt by mistake.

but i like mechanical systems too :)

I think you can find something like this at the key cut Dept.

I was wondering where you got those things. I've never seen QD air chucks that small before :p

I will have to keep an eye out for them sometime.

Very clever! Those air couplers must be more secure than the QD keyrings from Walgreens. I know you can get small couplers through paintball supply companies. AGD Automag guns came with them installed near the valve/reg body. 1/8" size IIRC

Thanks for the post, Sh@rp!

I was gonna ask at the auto parts store while I was there, but forgot.

I never thought about the paintball places. Most of the surplus stores around here are also paintball. Next trip to the surplus I'll ask them if I can remember.

You're welcome, glad I can share. They actually sell that "air coupler" thing as a key ring at auto part store. I bought it like that.

What pack/bag is that shot?

pretty nice set-up....
It's the Maxpedition FR-1 and cocoon pouch together.
